Jesus my righteousness, is he really your righteousness or do you have your own standard in life which has subconsciously become your righteousness.
I remember afew months after giving my heart to Jesus Christ, I saw the words RIGHTEOUSNESS written on the wall in my room in boldly, I thought I was dreaming, but I wasn’t.
God has renewed this in me sooo much. We some times think we are righteous because we pray, study the word, read the word, sing, worship, in leadership, have ministry etc. And if we don’t do one from the list, our conscious says’oh oh your not right with God’. Really, Jesus said I’m righteousness if i do all these and more… I don’t think so. For us to be able to do any is by grace alone, and because it may make you ‘feel’ right or nice, we then subconsciously put it in our mindset that that is what God wanted all along. Because it makes you feel worthy.
That is not righteousness, Jesus is our righteousness and if we want to be righteous we must not think it’s done by doing a list. But knowing simply that ‘It is because of HIM, I am righteous’. Admitting this, let’s his righteousness shine through. No one can say that there is an ‘exact’ way God wants you to be righteous, the 10 commandments do not give you righteousness, or the laws of Moses. Jesus had to come into man’s heart for them to receive righteousness.
It doesn’t matter if something ‘feels’ right or you do something that may seem right it doesn’t make you righteous.
Of course, there is a lifestyle of the righteous that pleases God, and that is when one that walks with Jesus in all, not dictating to Him what they should or should not do, can or can’t do.
Praying, studying, reading, singing , worship, church attandance etc are ways of communicating with God. While ministering, in leadership are where Gods gift in us is shared with others.Allowing His righteousness to keep springing forth in us, and not the list to make us feel righteous.
While ministering and leadership are where Gods gift in us is shared with others. It doesn’t make us righteous by doing so.
The bible shares a lot about a righteous ‘man’, especially in the old testament, these people were those who were in relationship with Jehovah (God). They pleased God because they honoured him in all they did.
The verse, a righteous man falls 7 times and gets back up. Shows us that its not the matter of not committing a sin/wrong doing that makes one righteous. I’m not saying one can willing commit sins and proudly profess they are the righteousness of God. Remember earlier I stated that even our unconscious(not willingly do it to knowing its repercussions ) wrongs is worked out for our good by Jesus.
Know that you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. So with Christ Jesus in you , there is righteousness. Without him, there is none.
Righteousness itself stands for continuous right standing. No man can say they do things right all the time. But Jesus does… even wrongs in us work out for our good.
PRAYER:
LORD MAY YOUR SPIRIT KEEP ME IN YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS, HELP ME TO NOT LIVE IN MY OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS. HEAL MY HEART FROM BROKENNESS, SO THAT I WALK WHOLE IN YOU.IN JESUS NAME. AMEN
Love
Sarah
